If you are planning to visit Colombia as a tourist, the dry seasons (December–March, July–August) give the best conditions across most destinations.

If you are planning to move to Colombia, timing matters less — especially if you are heading to Medellín. The city's weather is consistent enough that any month works. The bigger factor is giving yourself enough lead time to process your visa and gather documents, which typically takes 3–6 months.

One factor travelers often overlook is event timing. Medellín's Feria de las Flores (Flower Festival) in August is a bucket-list experience but means packed hotels and higher prices. Carnaval de Barranquilla (February/March) is South America's second-largest carnival after Rio. Semana Santa (Holy Week in March/April) sees Colombians travel domestically, making popular destinations crowded but also offering unique cultural processions and celebrations.
